Community Guidelines

The short version

Chomp is for studying together. Be kind, keep it clean, and report anything that isn't. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users, and we review every report within 24 hours.

What people can see

Chomp is built so there's very little about you for anyone to see:

• When you send a friend request, that person sees your display name, handle, avatar and streak.
• Friends see each other's display name, handle, avatar and streak.
• Everyone racing on the same exam sees its name and each racer's study minutes and reviews for it.
• Nobody else sees your email, classes, notes, study packs, uploads or quiz results.

The rules

• Be kind. No bullying, harassment, insults, threats or ganging up on anyone.
• No hate. Nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
• No sexual content, and nothing that sexualizes anyone.
• No violence, and nothing that encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
• Keep names clean. Display names, handles and exam names follow every rule here.
• Be yourself. Don't pretend to be another student, a teacher, a school or anyone else.
• Protect privacy. Don't put anyone's personal information (including your own address, phone number, social media or school) in a name, handle or exam name.
• No spam. Don't send friend requests to people you don't know.
• Play fair. Don't fake study time, streaks or scores.
• Respect other people's work. Only upload class material you're allowed to use, and follow your school's academic-honesty rules.
• Follow the law.

Automatic filters

Chomp checks display names, handles and exam names against a list of words that aren't allowed, and won't save one that contains them. Filters miss things, which is why reports matter.

How to report someone

• In the app: open Squad, tap the ••• button next to the person or their friend request, and choose Report. Pick a reason and add details if you like.
• By email: write to hello@feedchomp.com with the person's handle, what happened and when.

We don't tell anyone who reported them.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any time. You can also talk to a parent, teacher or another adult you trust.

Blocking

Open Squad, tap the ••• button next to the person, and choose Block. When you block someone:

• they're removed from your squad, and you're both removed from each other's races;
• they can't see your profile or send you friend requests;
• they aren't told that you blocked them.

You can see and unblock people in Account → Blocked.

What we do about reports

We review every report within 24 hours. When something breaks these rules, we:

• remove it, for example by resetting a name, handle or exam name;
• warn, suspend or permanently remove the account responsible, depending on how serious it is and whether it's happened before;
• report it to the authorities when the law requires it or someone may be in danger, including reporting apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Threats, hate and any sexual content involving minors lead to immediate, permanent removal.

We may not be able to tell you what happened with a report, to protect everyone's privacy.

If you think we made a mistake

Email hello@feedchomp.com from the address on your account, tell us what happened, and we'll review the decision.

Staying safe

• Only add people you know in real life.
• Pick a handle that doesn't include your full name, school, birthday or where you live.
• Never share your password, address or phone number.
• If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them and tell an adult you trust.
